Multiplication
‘But he answered, “You give them something to eat.” Mark 6:37 (NIV)
What was it like to be a disciple serving up a meager offering of five loaves of bread and two fish to over five thousand men? Truly, when we think about that today, the idea is truly insane!
The disciples would have objected saying that they didn’t have enough food to offer the people. There wasn’t enough to nourish and sustain them. Who did the Lord think they were? Could they work miracles?
No, they could not and nor can we, as his disciples today. But we know the One who can. Greater is He, dear Christ follower, who lives in us, than he who lives in the world (1 John 4:4).
Do we feel that our small meager offering of abilities will bring nothing of worth to the world? Perhaps, we think that our talents or treasure are so insignificant, that we could in no way add value or bring any means of help to another. We may doubt that our small offering could ever make a real difference.
This renowned gospel story lays claim to the very real fact that God can multiply whatever we offer to abundantly bless the receiver. Read this entire story to dispel any lingering doubts. God is able to do exceedingly more than we can ever believe possible. He works in a realm that we can’t even begin to imagine.
Never underestimate the power of God at work behind our small offering. God blesses whatever we offer and multiplies the gift so that the effects are felt among more people and in more ways that we can ever comprehend.
