HEAVEN IS OUR HOME
Freelance writer Lupie Riley
Thought: Where is our ultimate destination after our spirits leave these bodies? Over 276 times in the New Testament it tells us about heaven. We are strangers or visitors on this planet and our real homeland is a place called Heaven. What is that place like?
We get a glimpse of it in Revelations. Paul also had a vision of its beauty and was told not to say anymore because there would be those who would want to get there prematurely. The Word describes Heaven as a place of exquisite brilliance and beauty like the finest gem. There would be no need of the sun and moon because the Lord himself is the light.
It will be a place where no more tears are shed, no more pain or sorrow and life will go on eternally in our new, immortal bodies. The river of life will flow freely and the tree of life will yield its monthly fruit with leaves that “heal the nations”. Peace and love will be felt throughout the homeland and we will dwell in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus forever.
Who wouldn’t want the hope that life would go on with no end in such a beautiful place? But the Word says we must be born again. Jesus is the way, truth and life and no one can get to heaven without faith in the Savior of the world. Putting the three C’s in action, Confront your sins, Confess them before God and Commit the rest of your life to Him Jesus will come in spiritually and guarantee your future in Heaven. That’s the blessed hope we have for all of God’s children.
So what should our attitude be? Let us not be concerned about material possessions or making ourselves comfortable in this world. Let us abstain from fleshy lust which war against our soul. We are to be separate from the world and keep our eyes on Jesus as we look forward to everlasting life. Maranatha
Prayer: Father God, thank you for the assurance that my life will go on eternally in a place called Heaven. I can now look forward to my new dwelling because of what Jesus accomplished on the cross. Amen
Verse: I Peter 1:15-17 “ But be holy now in everything you do, just as the Lord is holy, who invited you to be his child. He himself said, “You must be holy, for I am holy.” And remember that your heavenly Father to whom you pray has no favorites when he judges. He will judge you with perfect justice for everything you do; so act in reverent fear of him from now on until you get to heaven.”
