Surrounded by a cloud of witnesses.
What is expected of a flower which has regained its fragrance after a process of miraculous rejuvenation is that it spreads its fragrance to all and declares joyfully its wondrous works, the same may be said of a lighthouse which was shut down for going powerless, yet was later reinstated, it will shine all the more brightly and proclaim its new life by shining brightly and guiding many a wayward ships lost in the sea.
Lazarus had become a wonder to many, he had been raised from the dead and now everyone wanted to see him, and all the more, see and believe in Him Who brought life back into Lazarus. Yet the sad part is that, the teachers of the law (priests) who were supposed to instill life and hope in others were now plotting to kill Lazarus.
“Now a great many of the Jews knew that He was there; and they came, not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might also see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead. But the chief priests plotted to put Lazarus to death also, because on account of him many of the Jews went away and believed in Jesus.”
John 12:9-11 (NKJV)
They who have witnessed and experienced the goodness of the Lord need to shine for God’s glory. The Devil will surely discourage and dissuade such encouraged souls.
Why should the witness testify? How does the testimony of others help us?
There’s a blessed hymn by Stuart Hamblen which says:
It is no secret what God can do,
What He’s done for others, He will do for you,
With arms wide open, He will pardon you,
It is no secret what God can do.
There are many who are suffering and in pain and they too desire healing and restoration, they need to know the way and will surely be encouraged when they hear and see the wonders of God in our life.
Why is the Christian life a message of hope and encouragement, it’s just because of this…..
“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2 NKJV
Thus let’s experience the goodness of the Lord, let’s receive our healings and miracles and let’s make it known to others so they too may receive and experience the joy we have.
God Bless,
Abraham
