"Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8 Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life." (Gal 6:7-8)
Beloved, times are certainly tough, but the party is not over yet. We should not give up, but we must take God's Word by faith. (Hebrews 11:1) Then, we must put our faith into action. (Hebrews 11:6)
For faith is taking part in the community. Faith is running for political office. Faith is voting. Faith is attending the school board meetings. Faith is attending the city council meetings. Faith is writing our state and federal Senators and Representatives. Faith is signing petitions. Faith is being a "Patriot", a "Christian Patriot." Faith is voting our convictions.
And above all, faith is getting involved in the local church. Faith is witnessing for the gospel. Faith is reading our Bible and talking to God in prayer. In other words, faith is getting involved, at all fronts, and at all levels of life.
The populace has mixed feelings about Christians getting involved with the affairs of our communities. When we stand by, however and do not get involved, we tend to leave the fate of our country in the hands of the ungodly electorate community.
The greatest command of all Scripture tells us Christians to first love God, then love our neighbors as ourselves. (Matthew 22:37-40) And when we Christians do get involved in our democratic process, we continue to support the concepts of "We The People" in helping our country remain "the land of the free and the home of the brave.”
Why shouldn't Christians get involved in the communities? After all, Christians should be the best for this type interaction among the public (Proverbs 28:5), by understanding the rights and privileges of others. (Proverbs 29:7)
You see, the moral foundation of the Constitution is in the Declaration of Independence and its principle of equal rights. Under the Constitution, government was to be limited to protecting those rights. And Christianity is one such right.
In recent decades, the way our government operates has departed from the Constitution. It has become less limited and our liberties less secure. At the same time, true civic education in America - education in the Constitution - has largely died out. "(Larry P. Arnn, President, Hillsdale College)
For the most part, the Christian church, and we Christians by name, have long since diluted the principles of God's Word. If we had only continued God's original Ten Commandments (Exodus 20: 1-18) and doctrine of the first church. (Acts 2:41-41), what a world this would be.
Can we go back to these principles? Yes, with much prayer and supplication. (2 Chronicles 7:14) Nonetheless, it will take the true Christian populace making a stand for God and the right. God is patiently waiting for this move. Yes, He has been waiting a long time, let's not let Him down.
You see, governments are only made up of people. That's why we Christians should get involved at all levels of our government. Our motto should be the title of this blog, exercising our "Political Faith".
Author's Post Script
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances, (Amendment I, The Constitution of the United States)
Yes, we American citizens may speak freely on any subject. Yes, we American citizens may speak freely about our faith. Yes, we American citizens may speak freely to others, when they are in agreement, as to what God has personally done for us.
"But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,"(1 Peter 3:15)
