Walking On The Sea
Too often, we drift amid the tide’s current, endangering our lives. Difficulties and entanglements arise because we live in a sin-tainted world. Inevitably, the enemy (Satan) takes advantage of these opportunities “the thief’s purpose is to kill, steal, and destroy” (John 10:10). Since Jesus came that we might have life and have it more abundantly, we do not lose hope. Actually, troubles reveal what God alone can do. And, the burdens that we think will devastate, only serve to lift us. Then, we discover these hardships are food that faith grows on. In times like these, comes One walking on the sea to rescue the perishing (Mark 6:48)
He Emptied Himself
A full cup has no room for the Lord’s new wine “Blessed are those who recognize they are spiritually helpless, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven”(sermon on the mount-Matt 5:3) This discourse teaches that ‘humility’ opens a door for Christ to work in our lives, as we surrender to His design. Markedly, none so meek as Jesus ever lived. He didn’t seek honor for Himself, but gave all reverence to God. Jesus’ endured a life of suffering: nowhere to rest His head, misunderstood, extreme torture, and friends’ desertion “He emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant. He humbled Himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross” (Phil 2:7-8 NIV).
The Unrighteous Are Righteous
Christ-followers are immensely blessed because of this vital truth…’the One who knew no sin became sin for us’ (2Cor 5:21). As a result, the unrighteous have been made righteous due to Jesus’ sacrifice. For the most part, it’s beyond our ability to grasp with our intellect, but not beyond understanding, deep within our spirits. Therefore, it’s possible for us to live significant lives. Starting in the womb, we were stitched together by His power, for a strategic purpose. As God’s image-bearer we discover who and whose we are “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, sanctified, and ordained you’ (Jer1:5),
A Perfect Caretaker
If God restored King David’s soul time after time, He will do the same for us. The Lord is a perfect caretaker, our Shepherd, who gives every good thing we need daily. In pastures of tender grass, by quiet waters, He bids us to lie down for complete restoration. When we receive His refreshment, our minds, bodies, and spirits are mended. Indeed, silence becomes a set time away from our addictions to noise and activities. During solitude we hush our inner compulsions of thoughts. Afterwards, we’re saturated with a peaceful countenance, leading to a healthy body “I will lie down in peace, for thou Oh Lord alone, makes me dwell in safety” (Psa 4:8)
