Because we are living in dangerous times I thought it would be helpful and educational to go over some travel mistakes that unsophisticaed travelers make. These are common mistakes but they could prove deadly or very risky at the least so take heed.
A huge mistake, especially while traveling in foreign countries, is made when checking into hotels.
For example, one of the questions they always ask you at the front desk when checking in is "Mr. Smith, how many keys would you like to your room?"
Before you answer that question stop and think. Why would you ask for two keys if you are alone and only need one key?
Your answer should be two because if some young woman (or man for that matter) checks into a hotel criminals often case the hotel lobbey and they see the woman saying that she only needs one key then those criminals know or at least they think she is alone. If she's alone then they only have one person to contend with. For this reason you should always say you need two keys even if you are alone so these criminals will at least think you are with someone else.
2. Always try to stay between the third and sixth floors of a hotel. This reason should be fairly obvious. Criminals always target the first two floors because they are easy get aways. They can rob you and get to their get away vehicle or driver and have a quick escape if you are on the first or second floor.
3. Finally the other reason you don't want to be on the 99th floor is that if there is a fire or disaster most fire trucks have ladders that only reach to the 6th floor. So for this reason avoid if possible getting any room higher than the sixth floor.
Well, I trust these have been helpful and feel free to offer more safety tips when traveling.
