Belonging to God.
The concern of being related to God and the question of ‘belonging to God’ probably is the last thing being cared for in today’s world.
Much care and concern is exhibited for children to belong to a reputed school or university, for a young man to belong to the finest company or organization and for the elderly to belong to a good retirement plan or old age home.
…..does the relation to God matter in any of the above age groups?
If we do not take care to belong to God or do not endeavor that our loved ones should have a perfect relationship with God, we are missing out on the most vital thing in our life.
Neglecting God in our life is the root cause of all the evils in every generation.
The Bible speaks about a man who took well care that he never neglected God. His name was Job.
The Bible tells us that as a result of this, the Lord protected Job by building a hedge around him and all who belonged to him and God guaranteed their protection. Even the devil could not break through the mighty hedge the Lord had made.
This is how the Devil complains to God when he is not able to breach the protection of God in Job’s life…..
“Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.”
Job 1:10 NKJV
Do we too not need the same protection around us and around our loved ones?
We often complain that our children do not heed our advice; our relatives ignore our spiritual warnings of the worldly life they are living. What is the reason for this?
Jesus explained this clearly during his conversation to the stiff necked Pharisees…
“He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.” John 8:47 NKJV
If we and all our loved ones belonged to God, we or they would never reject Godly advice.
So now, how to belong to God?
“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.”
John 1:12 NKJV
How to receive God in our life? Hear and respond to the knocking of the Lord…
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.”
Revelation 3:20 NKJV
Through every circumstance, through every sermon in the church, through the reading and meditating of the Bible, through a dedicated prayer life, we can hear the knocking of God for us and also we can plead for our loved ones.
This may sound too crazy and unimportant, however this is what I pray – “May the Lord open our eyes to see the filth we are in today and may He instill in us a desire to be cleansed by His blood, May we yearn for peace and holiness and may we be able to understand that God loves us the best always and may we love Him the same.”
We are created in the image of God and designed to be complete when we belong to Him, and thus we will always be incomplete and missing out on the true joy without Him.
God Bless,
Abraham
