Why do we allow the world to determine what we must have and indirectly determine the kind of treasures we are to have and keep? This world however, is not able to keep them safe and secure or ensure that we enjoy it fully. Because when you are no longer there, someone else will have it. that’s is if it hasn’t already been taking away by the world. You have to define what treasure is to you and not to anyone else. Then you have to determine what those treasures are, after which you determine how to get them. Basic technique but the core of this is that the treasures last and that they actually matter and mean something.
Two men invested everything they had to obtain two different treasures. They lived in the same place where everyone made a big deal about obtaining one particular kind of treasure. The first invested everything to build a gold glittered mansion and the other invested everything to a get a little yellowish metal bar. The first guy looked important, felt content and fulfilled. The second guy on the other hand felt content but unfulfilled in the eyes of many. But time proofed who made the right decision as terrible weather conditions destroyed the mansion and fire burnt to ashes the remaining of it. And for the second guy time only refined the metal gold bar he had into its true form making it more beautiful and of great worth.
The world will define a lot of things for us. It is up to us to choose what definition we will live by. How often do we behave like the first guy when we keep investing out time, opportunities and life to accumulate wealth and fame as we ignore God and everyone around us. It would take sacrificing a lot of things to do what the Lord acknowledges as treasures while looking like fools in the eyes of the world. If we are willing, HE will grant us the grace. And to think that the deeds we do, are not to accumulate treasures for HIM because HE doesn’t need it but for us. It is only the treasures we store in Heaven that we truly get to enjoy. Every other one we accumulate on earth will be left for the unknown. We get to benefit fully from every investment ad sacrifices we have made to the next life to come.
We accumulate treasures so we feel valued, like we are worth something. But we forget how long these things are truly going too last. Its amazing how we choose temporary things for permanent ones when our entire goal to have something permanent. The world is a temporary dwelling, everything in it has a life span will be destroyed after a while, our lives are therefore temporary and so are every thing we accumulate on a temporary earth. However, there is an option of having a relationship with an eternal God, living for this God, accumulating treasures in HIS eternal dwelling where will have life eternally and enjoy the benefits of our treasures eternally.
It doesn’t get any better than this. Does it?
