Believing His claims
Centuries have passed by and man is still searching about his own identity, trying to understand himself and the reason of his existence.
With the finite capacity of reasoning which is also often misguided and confused by trying to incorporate the wrong conclusions by some who wrongly claim to be super intelligent and with the adherence to the trend of rejecting the truth of the Word of God, man is still on the quest to know himself.
If the above be true, how well can man understand God? he who has not been able to fully understand self, can he rightfully conclude on God?
The Pharisees at the time of Jesus out rightly rejected the claims of Jesus with the justification for lack of sufficient witness (God is not a formula or a concept to be certified by sufficient witnesses, if His presence and the fact of His existence can be felt, tasted and experienced, one can never disclaim His existence or disapprove His claims)
“Jesus answered and said to them, “Even if I bear witness of Myself, My witness is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going; but you do not know where I come from and where I am going.”
John 8:14 NKJV
God honors our doubts and resolves our queries as He did for the Apostle Thomas who said that he would believe in the resurrection of Christ only after he had tested Him in this manner:
“The other disciples therefore said to him, “We have seen the Lord.”
So he(Thomas) said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.””
John 20:25 NKJV
Jesus honored his request:
Then He said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.”
And Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!”
Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
John 20:27-29 NKJV
What about you? Are you still on the quest to know God? or do you believe and cherish His Lordship?
May the Lord reveal Himself as He is to all of us,
May our souls reject every doubt on the providence and the goodness of the Lord God,
May no false teachings or doctrines find rest in our souls,
May we bring glory and pleasure to the Lord God by our trust and love for Him.
“All I have seen teaches me to trust the creator for all I have not seen.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
