The Greatest Gift of All
Another Christmas is past and gone and many gifts were shared with friends and loved ones. I’d like to share about the greatest gift of all—Salvation.
God loves each of us with an unconditional love. He doesn’t want anyone to perish (2 Peter 3:9, NIV) in hell, a place of eternal torment. To demonstrate His love, He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for us (John 3:16, NIV). Jesus became the substitutionary sacrifice, humbled Himself unto death, and paid our sin debt in full on Calvary. He was the only worthy and acceptable sacrifice to redeem us from eternal separation from God (John 14:6, NIV). Because of this great act of love, those who accept Him, have eternal life and are reconciled to God. It is through God’s grace that we can be saved (Ephesians 2:8-9, NIV).
We all make decisions every day of our lives. Some are small and no brainers, while others are life changing and require great thought. Making the decision to accept the gift of Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior is the best, life changing decision you can make. A life with Christ is the gift that keeps on giving. Below is just a sampling of what you receive.
1) Forgiveness—We can come to Jesus just as we are and ask for forgiveness, accept Him as Lord and Savior of our lives. He will forgive us (1 John 1:9 NIV)
2) Eternal Life—We are assured everlasting life with Christ in Heaven (1 John 5:13, NIV)
3) Fresh Start—Leave your past behind and begin a new, fresh life with Christ as your Lord and Savior (2 Corinthians 5:17, NIV)
4) Ultimate Care—God is faithful. He takes care of His children. He will supply your needs (Philippians 4:19, NIV)
5) Peace—No one said that life would be easy, but you have the confidence of God’s peace as you pass through the tough times (Philippians 4:7, NIV).
6) Freedom from Fear—God will be with you to protect and strengthen. He is our strong tower (Isaiah 41:10, NIV)
7) Closeness to God—We are assured that no matter where we are, we are never alone. God has promised to be with us always and to go before us. We are never apart from His presence (Deuteronomy 31:8, NIV)
Jesus is the greatest gift of all.
How Do You Accept This Gift?
All you need to do is to believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that He died on the cross for you and paid your sin debt in full. Ask Him to forgive you for your sins and acknowledge that He is risen from the dead, He lives and sits at the right hand of God. Then ask Him to become Lord of your life and accept Him as your Savior. That’s it!
This is the best decision that I have made and I have no regrets—not one. I can also attest that God has never failed me. He is a God of righteousness and I trust Him. He is faithful and just.
Be sure to read His Word, the bible, which is our instruction booklet and guide to understanding the wonderful mind of God.
Don’t reject the precious gift of salvation (Psalm 9:17, NIV). Take the gift of Jesus, with Him you cannot lose.
