ANGELIC INTERVENTIONS
I, Wendell Riley, am a survivor of 14 or more near death experiences during my 75 years of life. I'm a firm believer in those mysterious spiritual beings called "Angels" who miraculously intervened on my behalf. The Bible describes them as "spirit messengers sent out to help and care for those who are to receive his salvation" ( Heb. 1:14) until our time on Earth is done. The Word also tells us that even before we took a breath on the outside world God has a plan for our life. "You saw me before I was born and scheduled each day of my life before I began to breathe. Every day was recorded in your Book!" (Psalms 139:13-16). As a survivor I seek that plan every day to fulfill the purpose He has for me. God is eternal and see's my life's picture complete so who else would know better what path I should take. Seek His wisdom and counsel every day and He will lead you down that narrow road to the abundant life found only in Him (Jesus). I've listed in numerical order these Angelic Intercessions beginning from my birth. God Bless
1. BIRTH: My parents lived on a leased farm about 18 miles out of Cheyenne Wells, Colorado when my mother went into labor. She was in pain for two days when my father took her into the hospital with serious complications. I was born a blue baby with the umbilical cord wrapped around my neck and unable to breath. My father thought I was gone. The doctor and nurses worked quickly and I took my first breath in the outside world.
2. RATTLE SNAKES: Approximately two years of age on a visit to my grandparents house in rattler country I went out in the yard to play. I saw a rattler snake and picked up a piece of cement block and proceeded to kill it. I drug it back to the farm house to show my mother what a brave hunter I was. She was horrified and I got the worst scolding in my entire life.
3. ALMOST DROWNED: On another visit to my Aunts house on the farm when I was four years old there was a 6' cistern filled with water for the livestock. I was walking around the concrete wall when I fell in. I could see gold fish swimming around. My sister, who was suppose to have a watchful eye on me, grabbed me by my suspenders and pulled me out. If she had not been there I would not be here.
4. FELL THROUGH THE ICE: Once again my sister came to my rescue. Angelic intervention. At that time I was about five years of age. We were walking along an irrigation ditch that had a layer of ice on top with fast moving water underneath. Feeling brave I walked out into the ice and broke through a weak spot that left me floating underneath. I could see my sister through the ice running along side to find a spot where she could pull me out. She also got a good scolding when we returned home home with her little brother, cold and soaking wet.
5. SLED ACCIDENT: At this time I was six years old and we had moved to Boulder, Colorado and lived in a house on a hill that was used for sledding in the winter. My friend and I were standing at the bottom of the hill when a 4-6 man antique bob sled came down at high speed killing the dog in front of them and sending me up in the air with my head landing on the curb knocking me unconscious. When I came to all I can remember is a man in a brown jacket had me over his shoulder. My friend went running home thinking I was dead. I ended up in the hospital and soon after decided that was enough and started to walk back home when I collapsed and ended up back in the hospital. The Dr. told my parents to just take me home. They put me in a private school to recuperate from my injuries from 1st grade through 9th. For a short time the concussion caused colors to change and I had a vision of a future accident that occurred on the playground much to the fright of my teacher. The Dr. said this happens once in awhile with head injuries.
6. TEENS: Two friends and I hopped up the engine in a 1950 Ford and took it out for a spin on a country dirt road. Coming around a corner we T-boned an irrigation ditch going about 90 mi. hour. No seat belts, the car flipped end over end twice and 3-4 times sideways. I took out the windshield with my head and we all three escaped with just bumps and bruises. Angelic intervention. As teenagers would do back then we welded doors, patched up dents, cut off the top and transformed it into a convertible.
7. SHOT GUN BLAST: On another trip out with my friends we went hunting with our 12 GA. shot guns outside of town where the local power plant had a game preserve. One of my friends got trigger happy shooting at a duck and missed my head by inches. I felt the breeze pass my ear and lost my hearing for about 1/2 hr.
8. KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS: On a camping trip with brother-in-law and friends one decided to try and knock a squirrel out of a tree. He found a large moss covered rock in the creek, aimed, it slipped and it came down on my head. They thought they had done me in as I was out for awhile and ended up at the hospital having my wound stitched up.
9. CONCRETE BLOCK: Helping a neighbor bring down a concrete wall with his front loader he knocked the wall down with a 8"x8"x7' concrete block falling on my head. Bleeding profusely he raced me off to the hospital. More stitches and a watchful eye on side affects from concussions.
10. EXPLOSIVE MATERIAL: Helping this same neighbor with his move to Texas I was driving his dad's car with an enclosed U-haul trailer containing highly explosive materials. There were 3-100 lb. propane tanks, 2- bottles of oxygen and 2-acetylene containers for welding. Coming down the highway through town in Amarillo I came up to a stop light. Glancing in my rear view mirror I saw semi at high speed headed straight for me. I went through the red light with heavy traffic because instinct told me he wouldn't have time to stop. When I looked back he had jackknifed the rig half way through the intersection. With all the explosive material in the U-haul it probably would have taken out a city block or more. Angelic intervention.
11. GALVANIZED POISONING: One of my jobs was working at an ice plant in Boulder. I was sent out to repair some problems at one of their enclosed ice vendors. It required some welding of galvanized tin and was inside working for over an hour. After the job was done and I headed back to the office and found myself passed out in someone's front yard. I managed to get back to the office where the boss told me to go to medical center. The Dr. said I would be dead from galvanized poisoning if I was any older. I suffered from pain in lungs for a length of time.
12. ELECTROCUTION: I was employed as an electrician at Rocky Flats in Boulder and during this time I was working on a 440 V motor control center. Across the isle was a 10' metal lathe with a 2' chuck in operation. I was hit with 440 V landed on top of the lathe that would have cut me to pieces if it had not been for the operator who had a preminission to shut it down just in time. The electricity traveled through my shoulders and came out in 1/2 dozen perfectly round cookie cutter holes in my hands and wrists. I could see the bright white of my bones. Off to the medical center.
13. LINEMAN: One of my jobs at RF was a lineman. One stormy, rainy night with strong winds I was sent out to stabilize some 14,000 V power lines that were arching from the wind. While up in the bucket truck one of the out riggers shifted and knocked the truck off balance putting me directly beneath the power lines. Hunkering down in the bucket I couldn't reach the controls that lowered me down. One of the guards just happened to come out and check on me and I directed him to the controls that were at his level so he could bring me down. Angelic intervention
14. 10 lb. BOOMER: During my logging days in Yampa, Colorado a boomer that tightens the chain around the logs weighing about 10 lbs apiece came loose, shot up into the air high and long enough to let me get out of the truck, see what the problem was before it came down about 5' from where I was standing.
More memories
15. TREE'S REVERSING DIRECTION: During my logging days in Yampa, Colorado an eyewitness saw the tree's I cut reverse directions and try to fall on me.
16. MISSED TRAIN BY INCHES: Coming home from work around 2:a.m and traveling on a Co. line road I came up to a rail road track that was at an angle. With windows up didn't hear the train whistle but saw the train head light in the back of my window. Missed the oncoming train within inches of my vehicle. Angelic intervention.
17. HIGH POWERED RIFLE EXPLOSION: It was an evening out with our rifles and I had a .303 British high power. Pulled the trigger and it blew up. I was standing in front of the drivers door and found myself behind the car looking at the tail lights. The barrel was split in three places, parts went flying and it split the stock and blew the clip out of bottom. I ended up bleeding in every opening on my face...eyes, nose, ears, and mouth. Went to a service station to clean up before going home and scared the service attendant who didn’t know whether to call the ambulance or the coroner.
Note: To my recollection these are all true accounts of my near death experiences that happened to me during my 75 years of life. Do I believe in these Spirit messengers called Angels, how could I not. God has a plan for each one of us from the very beginning of our first breath. Our goal in should be to seek that plan, by inviting Jesus to be a part of our life and in turn He will supply us with all wisdom, counsel, strength and encouragement for all the decisions we make in life with hope for a better future to come when he returns as King of the world for his 1,000 year reign. God Bless
A verse to memorize that will be your guide for all the choices you have yet to make.
"In everything you do, put God first and he will direct you and crown your efforts with success." Proverbs 3:6
