SOAR LIKE AN EAGLE
Those that hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, and they will walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31 NASB
Icarus learned the hard way. He tried his best to soar like an eagle on wings coated with wax. His attempt led to disaster. As he flew higher and higher, the sun grew hotter and hotter. The wax on his wings melted and he hurtled back to earth. And that was the end of Icarus.
Poor Icarus, he placed his trust in man maid wings with wax spread on their surface. As an ancient Greek, he knew nothing about the Spirit of God. He only knew of the family of gods worshiped by his neighbors and friends. He probably thought that those (false) gods would hold him high in the air as he soared ever higher. Poor Icarus, what a mistake he made.
As Christians we are extremely well blessed. We soar through the skies on the wings of metal safely seated inside and enjoying a bag of peanuts. We rely on the skill of the pilot and trust that the Lord will see us safely to our destination. We have faith that our final destination will be safely back in the arms of God, thanks to the sacrifice of Jesus. We know with certainty that a room, apartment, or some other accommodation has been prepared for us as we reside in comfort, in Heaven.
We thank you Father for holding us in the palms of you hands no matter how mistakenly we may try to soar into difficulties. Amen
