I was comparing the styles of different writers and how God’s special gift of creativity is expressed uniquely in each individual. In doing so, I have comprised a list of qualities about several of you. I looked at many, but the ones I will refer to have a special essence about them that stands out for that particular author alone.
Now, you may or may not find something in this list that directly describes your writing style. If not, it is most definitely not because your writing doesn’t have its own unique effects on me. It’s much more likely that you have a writing style similar to my own in that it is different every time, always new, with no particular pattern that really stands out more from one article to the next. If I read your writing often, you can rest assured that it's because I enjoy what I read.
My reason for doing this is in hopes that it will portray three things to you: 1) Each of you is blessed of the Lord in your own unique way. 2) Each of you possesses the ability to bless anyone who has the opportunity to read your work. And 3) you bless no one as much as you bless the Lord by pouring His love out of your hearts into others through your pens... or should I say "keyboards?"
I’m sure I’ll come back to this page and add to it as time passes and other unique writers take on qualities that grab my attention and cause a praise to rise up in me to the Lord for His blessing me so much through you all. Here is the list I have comprised thus far:
Though she, obviously, attempts to write inspirational poetry that reflects her own love for the Lord of her life, her words reflect the intensity with which God, Himself, wishes to share with us. It takes on a prophetic nature and leaves its readers with a strong desire to draw ever closer to the One who inspires its writer. She leans heavily toward only poetic writing (most all of her work), but always, always expresses a prophetic emphasis whether she is aware that she does so or not. I am inspired and deeply touched every time I read her work. I only wish she’d write a lot more often.
His short, fictional stories take on an air of true-to-life situations so much so that you would think they were nonfiction. There are always lessons to be learned, challenges to tackle, trials to either overcome or endure (depending upon that particular storyline), or spiritual blessings to be acquired. Most of his characters are young people who learn the basic concepts of Christian living. His patient teaching style is most assuredly reflective of his own lifestyle. He is obviously gifted with a fatherly affection and wisdom that his readers, both young AND old, can learn from.
Having had the blessed opportunity of getting to know her on a personal level, I have found that her deep love for God takes precedence over everything she does, everything she speaks, and most definitely everything she writes. On a rare, special occasion, she adds a personal touch (that springs forth from the joy in her heart) to her articles. But, for the most part, she devises the very Word of God into a series of scriptures that, when taken as a whole, open the heart to an explosion of revelation knowledge. And what better authors than those who were inspired BY God to write the Word OF God? II Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: Though she is often both physically and spiritually persecuted for her writing style, she endures most graciously. I Peter 2:19 For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully. And were not the original writers persecuted as well? Yes! But they spoke the Word of God regardless, for they were unafraid of “what man can do to the body.” She is fully aware that “a servant is not greater than his Master” and, because they persecuted Jesus, they will persecute her also. And so, she goes forth boldly with the Word and makes it quite obvious who she allows to be Master over both her life and her writing.
He writes only poetry. He writes in only one style. He writes only the simple truths from a biblical perspective. His are short, to the point, basic articles that I can expect to read (most everyday) once per day, in pairs. I haven’t looked to see for sure, but he has very likely posted more short poems than any other author in FaithWriters’ history. I can always rely on him to put forth the Word of God boldly and to the point... a highly needed attribute among the Lord’s ministers.
Her personal testimony is of the greatest encouragement to me in my present situation. I know that the Lord will, in His perfect timing, complete the good work that He has begun in me as far as preparing me emotionally and spiritually for a future relationship. He is not about to put me into a relationship with someone until He is finished preparing me, in His perfect wisdom, to handle it in ways that are far from customary to me as compared to passed experience. As He desires the best for me, He has placed this precious author in my path for me to learn the graciousness of a loving, Proverbs 31, Sarah-spirited wife, that I might strive to be more like her. However, I must say that her endearing articles greatly stir up in me the strong desire (that already comes so natural to me) to share my life with a special man, chosen for me by the Lord. Her precious, precious articles remind me a lot of those “love is...” cartoons that I used to clip from the newspaper funnies. She writes beautifully outlined tapestries of the essence of a loving companionship that only the Great Weaver can create. Each one confirms that no relationship is more blessed than the ones who are stitched together by God’s own loving hand and in which He is the Cornerstone, the strong binding, the main cord, the backbone that holds their love permanently together. Ecclesiastes 4:12 And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken. Two are strong together, but a threefold cord, especially when the strong cord is our Lord, is even stronger. Her creative views and comparisons of her relationship to the beautiful, yet simple things that surround her cause me to wait anxiously, but somehow patiently, for the day when I will hear from my own love, as Eve heard from hers, “You are now bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh, created specifically by God, especially for me.”
Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. She writes short articles, all in the same style: 1) A brief introduction, usually no more than a sentence or two long. 2) Scriptural reference. 3) Bible dictionary references used to break the scripture down. 4) And a few paragraphs that always plead “Draw near to Him,” “Love Him,” or “Trust in Him.” Peace and love spill out to overflowing from her articles. Her style is eloquent and gentle, just like the eloquence and gentleness of “Dear God.” Her writing sends out a daily dose of Matthew 11:28 COME UNTO ME, ALL YE that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. She pleads with her readers to reach out, to seek and find the love of God SHE has surely found, the same love that pleads and reaches out, through her, to her readers.
There is nothing more encouraging than to read the words of one who is transparent. She writes in depth articles on everyday living that reflect the struggles that we all (no matter our positions in life) MUST endure at some point in time. The first word that comes to my mind is “AUTHENTIC.” The woman is absolutely authentic! She, in no way, attempts to suggest that she is above being tempted or given to failure. Her being so transparent has gained her my utmost respect. I call her “friend” and “sister” because she is as real as it gets and is unashamed to walk before God and man in complete humility. The evidence of the power and grace of God is so obvious in her life as I watch her daily being carried from glory, to glory, to glory...
He (I say “he” but there are literally hundreds of “him” and “her” at FaithWriters.) is the typical “preacher,” called of God to preach the good news of the gospel of Christ Jesus crucified and resurrected. His articles are shorter versions of sermons you would generally expect to hear upon walking into the sanctuaries. A few of them come immediately to mind and I hope to daily find an article or two of theirs to keep me filled until the sanctuary doors open again. Anyone who hungers to hear the preached Word of God can find a little “church” going on right there on their computer screens. Every day, at any hour of the day or night, one who is thirsty can find a nice, refreshing dose of Living Water at FaithWriters. I have found a group of authors myself that do a fantastic job of ministering to my needs. Look around a while! I’m sure you’ll eventually find (if you haven’t already) your own selection of writers that meet your specific needs as well. Bless you all in both your writing AND in your search for great material to read.
