Are You the Same Daddy
Daddy, I kneel here at your feet contemplating heaven and the question, what would be the first words I speak to you there? I cannot stop thinking about it. Revelation, chapters one and four describes you sitting on your throne with flashes of lighting and peals of thunder rumbling from it. This causes me to see you as a God to be feared, unapproachable yet awesome; a God I encounter in another realm. Your majesty is a thing of great beauty and brilliance.
On earth, I see myself calling you “Daddy” and crawling into your lap while you sit upon your throne, holding me as a father would his child. Is the throne I just described the same one you sit on while I sit in your lap? It is a difficult and fearsome thing to think that the tender and loving Father I coming running to for comfort is the same God whose majesty is displayed in such magnificent power.
Yet you tell me not to be afraid; that you are the same God that said "Suffer the little children to come unto me." You are the same God that healed the sick and restored sight to the blind. You are the same God that redeemed me by the shedding of your blood and the same God that extends your tender mercies to me daily.
I choose to love you and not be afraid. I am your child and I want to please you. I cannot bear to knowingly hurt you through sin. When I realize I have sinned, I am filled with a sickness in my soul. It literally pains me to know I have hurt you, Father. My heart breaks. I am overwhelmed with a need to repent immediately. I want nothing to come between me and you, Daddy.
I will continue to serve you in love till that day I see you sitting on your throne. My finite mind sees me running to you, climbing onto your lap, throwing my arms around you crying, "Daddy." In realty, I will no doubt fall on my face crying "Holy, Holy, Holy."
