II Chronicles 9: 1-9
The Queen of Sheba once made a Statesman visit to Jerusalem to check out King Solomon.
She had heard of Solomon's fame and wisdom, so as people are often inclined to do, she decided to test him for herself and to ask hard questions of him.
The Queen arrived in proper mid-Eastern fashion of that time, bringing with her a very great caravan - with camels carrying spices, large quantities of gold, and precious stones - she came to Solomon and talked with him about all that was on her mind. Solomon answered all her questions; nothing was too hard for him to explain to her.
When the Queen of Sheba saw all the buildings that Solomon had constructed, and the Palace he had built, the food on his table, and even the gorgeous attire of his servants, as well as the burnt offerings he made at the Temple of the Lord, she was overwhelmed!
She said to the King, "The reports I heard of you regarding your achievements and wisdom is true; but I did not believe what was said until I came and saw it with my own eyes. In fact, not even half your greatness was told to me; you have far exceeded the reports I heard. Then she said:
"Praise be to the Lord your God, Who has delighted in you and placed you on HIS throne as King to rule FOR the Lord your God. Because of the love of your God for Israel and His desire to uphold them forever, He has made you King over them to maintain justice and righteousness."
Then she gave to Solomon gold, and spices, and precious stones. There had not previously been such a gift of spices as was the gift of the Queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.
In this Election Year of 2016 or America, let us pray that God will give to us a President who has a heart filled with the wisdom of God, and God's love for us as "The People."
Note that the Queen of Sheba observed that even the servants fared well. She observed the things King Solomon had built, but not with his own hands, rather the people had leadership and license to engage their skills.
The most notable of the Queen's observations was that Solomon was on the throne by appointment from God to do God's work.
Whether we feel comfortable with the fact or not comfortable - the fact is that all positions of authority are assigned by God. Romans 13: 1
IF a nation pleases God THEN He gives to them a good leader; and IF the people do not please God, THEN He gives a bad and abusive person to rule and to lead. Daniel 4: 17, Acts 13: 22, Romans 13: 2 - 5
Now, as it is time for the changing of the Guard, let us as The People PRAY, yes! AND let us see to it that we "Agree with God" in all matters, so that He will bless us with someone to lead our Nation who will have the wisdom and the love of God FOR US in his/her heart. May we live in peace! Amen!
