I love birds. I find them fascinating...from afar. I guess I have never understood them enough to appreciate them as a pet. The times I have visited a friend of mine, her colorful bird Bongo has never bothered me. However, this time was different, and the evening turned out to be one of the funniest moments I wished I had recorded.
I was invited by my friend to a birthday dinner she had cooked for her mom. When I arrived, Bongo was nowhere in sight. Then, suddenly Bongo appeared on the kitchen table in front of me. Next thing I know, he was on my shoulder. I offered Bongo a finger of friendship, but he bit me. Twice. He flew away only to return to prance around my neck. This time, Bongo was bobbing his head like a headbanger at some heavy-metal concert. My friend assured me this was a sign he liked me. I wasn’t convinced.
After dinner, we went into the living room, and Bongo followed. He landed on the front of my black tee shirt and used it like a mini-jungle gym, and it tickled. He flew off and returned to my shoulder several times, too. After he left one time, I looked at my shoulder and saw something white. Sure enough, Bongo had pooped on me! I stood in disgust, stomped out of the room and headed towards the bathroom. Bongo flew at me. As I passed the kitchen, he circled me as if I were his prey. Somehow, he knew exactly where I was going because before I could shut the door, he flew inside and landed on the counter. I was upset by this point. I tried to wash off the poop but only smeared it.
When I opened the door to leave, Bongo, hopped on my shoulder again. I returned to the living room with a frown on my face. Everyone was laughing and tried to explain what they saw. The more I listened to them, though, the more I laughed as well.
When I finally left, I was happy I had made a new friend, however I wanted to change his name from Bongo to Bonkers.
