One afternoon, the Devil walked to Godwin Watop and asked him to consider how successful Satloo Ultima is. Satloo is respected because of his wealth. He enjoys celebrity worship. Most people don't question how he gets his money. Some indeed know that the devil bankrolls him but they don't care, instead they admire him.
The Devil had wanted to get Godwin's attention to the "prosperity" of people that cooperates with him. Godwin is a selfless man but the Devil wanted to recruit him into "selfishness."
The Devil: I like it when I do things and people don't bother to put me in the limelight.
Godwin: That only means one thing, namely, your doings are diabolic. (Godwin trying to disengage himself adds): It has been depressing talking to you.
The Devil: By the way, I see you are trying to please God. I'd warn you against it.
Godwin: You have no business in my endeavours.
The Devil: Hold it right there! I do have business in every human being's life! Let me tell you the truth....
Godwin: (cuts in) You! Tell the truth? How can that be possible?
The Devil: Just listen and evaluate if I'm lying.
Godwin gets curious to hear what kind of truth will come out of the father of all liars' mouth. He listens.
The Devil goes ahead to point out what he did to Job. He especially emphasizes the fact that God didn't protect Job. If anything, it was God Himself who gave the permission for him to mess Job's life. To make it even more effective, he was allowed to do his evil works clandestinely. He also pointed out that in his ignorance, Job sought answers to understand what was happening to him. When God finally appeared, instead of giving Job answers, He brought more questions.
Seeing that Godwin was listening keenly and pensively considering the "facts," the Devil posed and asked: "Am I lying?" There was no answer from Godwin because it wasn't just an 'element of truth,' it was entirely true what the Devil was saying."
The devil continued to elaborate on another "truth".
The Devil: Do you know the first ever person who died on planet earth, I mean physical death?
Godwin: (thinks for a moment to establish if it isn't a trickery question) Yes!
The Devil: Who was he?
Godwin: That must have been Abel.
The Devil: Do you know why he died?
Godwin: Because his brother, Cain, killed him.
The Devil: No, no, no! Don't try to be clever. Cain was but an agent. I sold him one of my products, envy. When he bought it, he became my agent. I am indeed the one who killed Abel through him. Now, I have given you the answer, but do you know the primary reason Abel was killed?
Godwin was not in the mood to answer because the "truth" was too paradoxical to voice before the Devil. The Devil continued to answer his own question. At this time, he knew that Godwin was catching the spirit of intimidation buoyed by the puzzles of the ways and thoughts of God.
The Devil: I killed Abel because he pleased God by offering his best. And did you realize that the first man who ever died, died because he pleased God? Did you also realize that God never protected him against me? What kind of precedence did this set for people who would want to please God in the future?
Godwin: (Thinking hard)
The Devil: (triumphantly) Yes, I do have business with people who try to please God! My business is to fight them. In most cases, and I have lots of evidence, God who was supposed to protect them, allows me to mess them up. You surely don't want to have me for your enemy, do you?
Life has been extremely difficult for Godfav. God wanted to use Godwin to substantially share Godfav's burdens. If Godwin obeys, Godfav would win against the Devil who has tormented him for years. This is what attracted the Devil to come and intimidate Godwin. The Devil made it clear to Godwin that if he helps Godfav, he (Devil) will enthusiastically start a war with him.
God on the other hand didn't warn Godwin against disobeying Him, neither did He make any promises of protection, etc.

Things to Ponder:
Do you think Godwin was intimidated, or inspired?
If it were you, what would you do?
Did you know that the Devil can speak the truth? What are the strategies to adopt whenever he begins to speak the truth?
~~~~~~~~
Things to remember
i) When the devil speaks the truth, he is speaking a foreign language with an accent and grammatical errors. It isn't difficult to find out that he is acting in order to get the pronunciations correctly. The language of the Spiritual things of God must be spoken fluently (Do you know what this means?).
ii) You can have a conversation with the devil in your mind. When dramatized, it looked unreal for some people but a conversation with the Devil happens more often than we are willing to concede.
iii) Don't agree with the Devil even if he speaks the truth. A yes, in response to the Devil's prompting has an hypnotizing power. Slowly and slyly he will be deviating from the truth, by which time you'll already be 'loyal.'
iv) If you can't resist him at every line even when he seems to speak the truth, you better stop the conversation with the Devil.
v) Don't befriend the Devil. He is your enemy even in friendship. His ultimate goal is to destroy you. If you please him, the best he can do for you is to take you with him to his home. And you surely know his ultimate home.
vi) God doesn't have to make promises for us to obey Him.
vii) It is better to lose in time but win in eternity than win in time and lose in eternity.
viii) Yes, it can happen! Be prepared in case it does: You can lose everything as a consequence of obeying God. There are two realms: Physical and Spiritual: You lose in one, you win in the other, (and vice versa). The question is: In which one do you want to win?
ix) The health of a conscience is determined by how much it causes one pain if one were to sin. In this case, the pain of sin supersedes the pleasure of the said sin.
