Encouragement
It was a year ago February and I was visiting cousins in Orlando, FL. My cousin, Pam, was so kind to chauffer me around wherever I wanted to go in the Orlando area. When the week was over and it was time for me to head home, she picked me up and off we went to the Orlando International airport (MCO). We had started out a couple hours early so as to have plenty of time for me to comfortably check in and board the plane.
As we pulled into the airport, we were puzzled to notice that there didn’t seem to be a drop off point for the airline I had reservations on. “That’s odd, Pam. Did we miss seeing it as we drove in?”
So, we drove back around again. Still not seeing my airline sign, we rolled down the window and asked a taxi driver where it was. With a broad smile, he informed us, “Oh, that airline doesn’t fly into MCO. It’s out of the Sanford airport.”
Oh, no…we were at the wrong airport. Not to panic! I looked at my watch and we still had an hour to get there but neither one of us knew the directions. I phoned Bill at home. “Bill…can you go online and give us directions to Sanford from MCO?”
His computer was slow that day so Pam began to brainstorm how to get there. Time was passing. Finally, she got it on her GPS and we sped down the road making it just in time to board the plane. What a relief.
As I was taking a walk today, I recalled that incident and began to think about our eternal destiny. People can be nonchalantly cruising down life’s highway thinking they are on the right path. After all, it seems right. But then, they get to what they think is their destination and find out they took the wrong road.
We are in the end times. Biblical prophecy is being fulfilled in front of our eyes. I think it’s possible we’re already in the 4th or 5th seal spoken of in Revelation 6. It’s so important to be on the right road and to gently help others to get there too.
1John 5:11-13 “And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.”
It’s good we can know when we are on the right road and our destination is in sight.
