Holidays
Thus saith the Lord, what are My precious little children learning from their sentimental, deluded parents? They are being taught to believe in a manmade myth designed by the devil to divert attention from My Son and what HE has done to bring blessing to this cursed world.
So-called “Santa” is an idol who appears in red, in mockery of My precious blood. He’s a walking advertisement for food addiction. He smokes like a chimney. He fosters materialism and love of carnal things by promising children that if they finish all the food on their plates and mind mommy and daddy they’ll get their hearts’ desires. And what children visiting Santa usually desire isn’t spiritual blessings, but the latest cartoon character action hero, or some new video game.
Christmas materialism helps reinforce the rich-poor divide in the community and in church. Children of poor people struggling with bills are left to wonder if they’ve been too “bad” to get that fancy load of stuff their richer neighbors got on Dec. 25, which by the way, is NOT My real birthday. You are asked to commemorate My death (I Cor.11:26), not some made-up date for My birth. I do bless families who meet one another’s needs in love and acknowledge me in their gift-giving, but giving OUT OF LOVE (not guilt or greed) doesn’t necessarily have to take place on any given day (Gal.4:10).
Several centuries after Christ ascended back to heaven, carnal institutional church leaders wanted to lure extra people into their fold. In order to make churchianity more appealing they let “converted” heathens keep their old pagan holidays by “hallowing” them with “Christian” counterparts. Church officials adopted the pagan Roman Saturnalia holiday which celebrates debauchery and excess and marks the winter solstice, the 25th of December. They simply turned it into “Jesus’ birthday”.
My people run up thousands of dollars’ worth of debt to celebrate My alleged birthday (wonder why foreign missionaries don’t get more of My birthday gifts?). Then My people sweat it out till most of the following year wondering if they can pay it all off before bill collectors break down their door. And the reason people go wild with their credit cards right after Thanksgiving? Because others just might be giving THEM expensive gifts and they’d be embarrassed if they gave them nothing in return but a card or a homemade treat from the kitchen. Peer pressure and image-consciousness dominate many Christians’ lives instead of My gently guiding voice which cautions them NOT to lay up needless treasures on earth (Matt.6:19).
I see cross shoppers (many of them Christians) shoving and yelling and forcing their way to the front of the line to grab the latest “must-have” kiddie toys before they’re all gone. And why? Will your son or daughter die if they don’t get the electronic gadget advertised on TV? Could it be FEAR is more of a factor in their wanting that particular toy than fun? I know how mean and snobby children can be toward each other when their little friends don’t all have the same status symbol toys and clothes. Operating out of greed and fear is NOT the way of Christ.
Little children stare longingly at the sky to catch a glimpse of their idol who is allegedly on his way to bring them all sorts of expensive, lovely gifts. My Word teaches Christians to look for MY appearing, not Satan Claus’s.
Even the movies sell the Santa Claus myth as a near-religious experience. One film appeals to people’s faith instinct to BELIEVE in what they can’t see, just like they would trust in a God they can’t see. A little girl kneels imploringly before her Christmas tree (see Jer.10:3-4), silently pleading with her idol “Kris Kringle” to give her a new daddy (providing companions is supposed to be MY job!). And when her faith in him bears fruit and her mother marries the man she hopes she’ll marry, AND when the little girl’s happiness is completed with a brand new family home packed with pretty toys, she breathes, “Thank you, Santa.”
King Herod went around in fancy apparel bragging he was some kind of god worthy of worship. Remember what happened to him as punishment for his presumption (Acts 12:21-23)? I am not mocked, saith the Lord. I am a jealous God and I will tolerate no rivals for My people’s praise and worship (Ex.34:14).
Some children who get mixed messages from their parents are so mixed-up they wonder who it is they’re supposed to thank for all the good things of life, especially on or around Dec. 25. And when they find all the Christmas gifts hidden in the closet or under the bed and confront the parents who deceived them with a “little white lie” all these years, the kids may be tempted to say, “What about this Jesus Christ business? Did you make Him up too? If you fibbed to me before about Santa, why SHOULD I believe in Jesus?
Santa Claus proceeds from the antichrist spirit. Antichrist means “instead of” Christ. Satan Claus is getting all the glory for the material blessings I enable you to share with your loved ones during your winter holiday. Give Me, the God Who made you and Who sustains you in life and health, ALL the glory for every good and perfect gift (Eph.5:20; James 1:17).
