Family

“Mom, there’s a new girl next door, and she’s strange.”
These were the words of a teenage boy to his mother.
“I heard her family talking as they were moving in,
And they were all so sweet and kind to one another.”
“There is something different about those folks, mom.
I can’t put my finger on it, but they are not like us.
That new girl next door, I just can’t figure her out,
And her family is so polite. They do not swear and cuss.”
“Mom, the girl next door invited me in for some cake.
The Bible her mom was reading sure looked used.
The dad came in and the mom gave him a big smile.
Mom, why are they different? I am really confused.”
“Mom, I was over at the house of our new neighbors,”
The boy excitedly told his mother one afternoon.
“They invited me to join them in their Bible study.
They talked about Jesus and said He might come soon.”
“Mom, the girl next door invited me to church Sunday.
At first I refused, but then I told them I would be there.
There’s just something different about that girl next door,
And her family is so kind to each other, as if they care.”
“Mom,” the son was out of breath, “I’ve got good news.
I am so happy, for you see; I gave my heart to Jesus today.”
There was a smile on his face and a new light in his eyes.
The mother was bewildered; she didn’t know what to say.
Something had happened to her son, he was not the same.
His politeness was overwhelming, and he was so happy.
This was not at all like the difficult teenager she knew.
He had always been quarrelsome and oh so crabby.
She did not know what had brought on the sudden change.
She liked it. She resolved in her heart to learn more.
Standing there on the steps she slowly raised her arm,
And knocked gently at the home of the girl next door.

I love this poem! God bless you. In Christ,

As I watched him closely for a few weeks.... I realized I wanted that joy and contentment in my life that my friend had. He was delighted to tell me why he had so much peace and joy!!
And when I sought for that peace and contentment I found it… in JESUS … who had been waiting for me all along.. with open arms! He created an enormous change in my heart and life; that this old world just can not understand nor give!
I absolutely loved this piece. It massaged my heart and blessed my soul!
Thank you
