THE PROVIDENCE OF GOD
Peggy Kannaday
Divine providence is the awesome plan and purpose of almighty God. His provision is totally comprehensive and inexhaustive!
However, God's benevolent plan is directed toward those who have accepted Jesus Christ, love God, and are called into His glorious purposes. God has glorious plans for His people, and He is on a daily 24/7 basis working everything that occurs in their lives for their good. It is a great and mighty promise found in Romans 8:28.
28 "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose."
Our finite minds cannot fathom the omniscience of God, as He can provide everything that we need, and He works everything for the good of His called and chosen people, and He also gives us free will in order for us to choose who we will serve each day.
Everyday, we have the choice to deny ourselves, take up our crosses, and to follow Jesus Christ, or we can choose to follow our own desires and/or the temptations of satanic spirits.
However, if we desire to take the narrow and straight road along with our Lord Jesus; we have a glorious future with King Jesus in the Kingdom of God.
For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. Romans 8:18
When we make a conscious choice to go the way of Jesus Christ; we will immediately incounter satanic opposition. However, it is through this conflict and tribulation that we become more and more like Jesus Christ Himself.
Acts 14:22 "Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the Kingdom of God."
Those that choose this present world and all that is in it; will lose their own souls in the end. Everything that we could possibly gain in this world is like nothing at all compared to being with the Lord Jesus in The glorious Kingdom of God.
Mark 8:36:
"For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul".
We must not care for anything in this world more than we care about loving and obeying our Lord Jesus Christ. Anything that would try and separate us from The Lord must be renounced, and we must repent of it, or it could become a subtle snare into sin, and the wages of sin is death or separation from the life giving power of God.
There are false teachers in the church today, that are teaching that we do not have to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, and we do not have to obey His commandments. However, the most prominent message that Jesus preached was "repent" for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.
He constantly warned the people about the false teachings of the "religious" pharisees, etc. He was always caring for even one lost soul, and He was always trying to prevent even one person from becoming deceived by the enemy, the wolves in sheep's clothing and the false teachers.
In the last days, The Lord is going to raise up those who will also care for that one soul as Jesus would have died on the cross for even one person. God's providence is that not even one person would perish and go to eternal damnation in hell.
Repentance is our entrance into the providence of almighty God, the Kingdom of Heaven, and all that God has for us. Repentance is a miraculous provision of God that allows the believer to be renewed on a continual basis.
In Luke 13, Jesus tells the people that those who had died were no greater sinners than anyone else, and unless they repented they would also perish.
Luke 13:4-5:
4 "Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem? 5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish."
God is a God of total authority and justice. His providence is not wishy washy or weak in any way. He provides total justice and judgment for all people. We are safe to trust in Him 100% because He is not able to be deceived, manipulated or controlled by any deceit.
God's providence is totally fair, comprehensive and ongoing. God provides everything we need for an abundant, godly and righteous life, but we in turn must choose to follow Jesus and His Words.
You can be assured that wherever the Lord guides; He also provides. That is His manificent plan and provision for all those who love Him, trust in Him, and obey Him.
Jesus Christ Himself was put on this earth for our benefit, and He was totally obedient even unto a horrible death on the cross. Because of His total submission to His calling; He has gained the highest seat of power at the right hand of God The Father.
I Cor. 15:28,
"And when all things shall be subdued unto Him, then shall the Son also Himself be subject unto Him that put all things under Him, that God may be all in all."
God's providence is that all will be saved, healed and come to the knowledge of God. God The Father sent His only Son to provide this great provision for all human beings that turn to His Son Jesus Christ, and make Him their Savior and Lord.
God's love is so powerful and great, and God totally proved His love for all people on the cross. Our acceptance of His sacrifice of love will bring His providence into our lives. It is our choice.
Romans 8:39 (King James Version)
39 "Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
God's providence is all about God's love for mankind, and the sacrifice of love that Jesus Christ fulfilled. Our provision is based on our love for God,others, and our obedience to His commandments.
John 14
15 "If ye love me, keep My commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever;"
Jesus is The Word of God for our direction, and in addition; we have been given The Holy Spirit Who will guide us into all truth. We need to be led by The Holy Spirit in all that we do, as these are the mature sons and daughters of God.
God's glorious promises are His perfect providence. God's activity in the world is provisional and based on His Word, The Holy Bible. He has given us an inspiring letter that explains everything that we need to know. He has sent us The Holy Spirit to endue us with the power of God in all that we do.
He has provided everything we will ever need, and now let us walk in His Truth, His Way and enter into the wonderful Life that He has for all those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. Now, let us overcome the world and everything in it for the sake of the Kingdom of God. May His Kingdom come and His perfect will be done in earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
