Poetry
In bright array they
adorn the bleak and
barren corners of
the landscape with
their splendid yellow beauty.
Fair heralds of spring
their gorgeous yellow trumpets
sing out a jubilant song to
announce the good news:
Rejoice and be glad!
Sing for joy all the earth!
Death is once more defeated!
Winter’s cold stone heart is melting away!
The time of Resurrection is here!
In honor of the celebration
goldfinch exchanges his
drab olive fatigues for
brilliant yellow and black plumage;
forsythia and crocus join
the daffodils in their
merry yellow raiment;
trees stretch out their limbs
flexing their branches, sending
forth tiny yellow-green buds
as new life once again
courses through their veins;
like rich golden honey, the
sun’s rays caress the earth.
Hope and new life
once more bloom in hearts
grown tired and cold
casting off winter’s icy fingers.
All creation joins in the
jubilant fanfare of the daffodils.
(Didn't get my submission into writer's challenge in time, theme yellow, but wrote one anyway.)
