Encouragement
We must be reminded from time to time just how blessed we are to live in America!
The economy may be down some now, but compared to the rest of the world, we are most fortunate! I call this 'Comfort Comparison'.
There is a deeper meaning also - the religious freedoms are every day and are the results of the spiritual dimension of our lives. For all of God's blessings, there should be work services and ministries out of our gratitude to Him.
If gratitude to God for His mercies does not compel our devotion to Him...
then nothing else will.
Service and work that does not grow out of love for God, have to refuel at 'flesh pumps'.
We must refuel at 'Spirit pumps' (John 7:37-39)
Here is a paraphrase of Psalm 23 for your work and your work place.

The Lord is my real Boss and I shall not want.
He gives me peace when chaos is all around me.
He gently reminds me that He is my Source....and not my job.
He restores my sanity everyday and guides my decisions that I might honor Him....
in all that I do.
Even though I face absurd amounts of:
~system crashes
~unrealistic deadlines
~budget cutbacks
~co-workers who gossip
~discriminating supervisors
~an aging body that doesn't cooperate every morning
I still will not stop...for He is with me!
His PRESENCE, His PEACE and His POWER will see me through.
He raises me up, even when they fail to promote me.
He claims me as His own, even when the company threatens to let me go.
His Faithfulness and Love is better than any bonus check.
His retirement plan beats every 401K there is!
When it's all said and done, I'll be working for Him a whole lot longer and for that...
I BLESS HIS NAME!

We thought we'd share this old song: "Work For The Night is Coming"
“As long as it is day, I must do the work of Him Who sent Me. Night is coming, when no one can work.” (John 9:4)
Words: Anna L. Coghill (1854) Coghill was only 18 yrs. old when she wrote this hymn.
Music: Work Song, Lowell Mason (1864)
"Work, for the night is coming,
Work through the morning hours;
Work while the dew is sparkling,
Work ’mid springing flowers;
Work when the day grows brighter,
Work in the glowing sun;
Work, for the night is coming,
When man’s work is done.
Work, for the night is coming,
Work through the sunny noon;
Fill brightest hours with labor,
Rest comes sure and soon.
Give every flying minute,
Something to keep in store;
Work, for the night is coming,
When man works no more.
Work, for the night is coming,
Under the sunset skies;
While their bright tints are glowing,
Work, for daylight flies.
Work till the last beam fadeth,
Fadeth to shine no more;
Work, while the night is darkening,
When man’s work is o’er."
My Prayer for each of us is:
"May all we say and do,
be said and done in Jesus' name--
for the glory of God--
out of a motive of love--
and for the sake of souls."
