“Do you want me to file, or do you want to?”, he replied, oblivious to my devastation.
I had been trying, so very earnestly, to heal our marriage, in spite of the manner in which I had been treated. For three years I attempted to make a smooth sail of a life we had shared for 23 years.
This, indeed, was the last straw! I felt that my, then, husband really and truly did not intend to continue our marriage. Suddenly realizing how he actually felt, I came to the conclusion that I was a complete failure.
Being totally rejected is not something one enjoys, to say the least. Depression had set in, and I managed to continue on with my life in a vague manner. Going to work, I moved around like a zombie. Little did I realize how much my co-workers were worried about me as they observed the pounds dropping off my body. Finally, I came to reality when one of my friends told me that I was beginning to look gaunt. This one statement managed to sink in and brought me to the point of understanding what was happening. I thought I had failed miserably in my marriage, only to wake up one day to find I was abusing my body by practically starving myself, as food was the least of my thoughts.
One year later, I met my future husband for the first time. We found that we had much in common, and enjoyed each others company immensely. We dated for about two years, and then he proposed.
We have now been married for almost 19 years. It has been a wonderful marriage. You might even say, it has been a very successful marriage.
So, from failure to success – what a Blessing, and I do mean that. I now feel that I have been truly blessed.
Just think – from failure to success – all in one lifetime. It works because God made it work!
1 Samuel – 18:14
In everything he did, he had great success, because the Lord was with him.
