Described as a Potter, with the ability to ‘make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert,’ the Master has perfected the art of design. David’s recognition of his awesome craftsmanship caused him to exclaim “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament sheweth his handywork.”
The animal kingdom is rife with examples, not only of exquisite expertise at work, but of a Maker who has a delightful sense of humor; the giraffe, platypus and kangaroo come immediately to mind. Look again at the shark, that magnificent killing machine; examine God’s crowning glory, man, and you are forced, like the prophet Isaiah to “Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number; he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.” (Is. 40:26)
The amazing thing is, that his creative ability is continuous. Isaiah (64:4) notes a thought that is echoed in the book of Corinthians (1Cor.2:9); “for since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.”
We are looking for a new heaven and a new earth, designed so that the Lamb will provide the illumination and we will walk on golden streets. Hasten your footsteps Lord!
