They are pretty inflexible, too. Tiptoes are out of the question. Dancing, frolicking, playing are out. I can sit in a pew, but that is awfully risky. I never know when my toes will act up. Cold weather is a bitter experience with toes of glass.
I often sit on the outside of the row, in one particular spot, that one spot is conducive to comfort and care of my toes. I wish others understood this. I really should have the whole row to myself.
If you had glass toes, you would understand how painful it is to have one stomped on by an unruly child, a rebellious teenager or a run of the mill sinner. I actually had someone take my seat one Sunday. I stared at the back of her head. Good thing my eyes weren’t laser beams! Her child was out of control. She had no husband that I could see.
I, of course, sent a letter off to the pastor immediately. I was insulted that the usher allowed her to take my seat. Fortunately, she has never come back. I assume the pastor called on her and set her straight about the poor unfortunate ones with health problems. I’ve heard that glass toes can be fatal.
