For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me
The rich and poor meet together: You LORD are the maker of them all.
The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.
We must open our mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.
The meek also shall increase their joy in the LORD, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.
Your word declares, when the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, You the LORD will hear them, You the God of Israel will not forsake them.
Hear this, you that swallow up the needy, even to make the poor of the land to fail.
Oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against your brother in your heart.
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Jesus said, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come and follow after him.
For you will have the poor always with you;
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because God hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
Remember when you make a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:
And if you bestow all your goods to feed the poor, and if you give your body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth you nothing.
For if there come unto your church assembly a man or woman with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man or woman in vile raiment. And you have respect to him that wears the good clothing, and say unto him, Sit here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand there, or sit here under my footstool: Are you not then partial in yourselves, and have become judges of evil thoughts?
Poor you,
Poor poor you!
