This trait so well known and observed in toddlers is one I am guilty of harboring in my own life. Perhaps you also hold onto The Mine Philosophy. You know the one of which I speak - the desire for bigger and better. The lust after those things we do not have. The hunger to obtain just such things as we see in magazines, books, movies, or even in the homes or lives of our friends and family. Anything that is not what we already possess.
Such dissatisfaction must indeed be grievous to our Lord. He who gave us everything He had must indeed cry when we find ourselves discontented with His wonderful blessings, begging for more like small children imploring for whatever toy is in the hands of another.
I have asked the Lord to change my heart, that I might be contented with where I am and what I have been given. I want to give new meaning to The Mine Philosophy. Instead of desiring for that which I do not have to be given over to me, I want to thank my Savior every day for those blessings I do have - those that are already mine by His grace and mercy.
As my first step towards a new definition of The Mine Philosophy in my life, I shall remove my chubby hands from your book and return to my toy. After all, that is already mine. :)
