Annoyed was I quite readily
With many things that bothered me,
Like others’ sins that I perceived—
Their actions wicked, I believed.

For those with whom I’d disagree,
I couldn’t seem to make them see
That I was right and they were wrong.
Indeed, they had been all along.

So smug was I with righteous right,
I somehow couldn’t see the light,
The one that shines from God above
And shows to us His heart of love.

His light, delivered with a dart,
Shone deep within my prideful heart.
When He revealed His view of me,
I found myself on bended knee.

It’s true God’s laws are absolute.
With that, there’s no need to dispute.
He’s made them clear within His Word
Through sweetest story ever heard.

But He is Judge of all, not I.
It’s not my part to even try.
He writes His truths on every heart
Of each believer from the start.

That all might seek Him, His desire.
He’d be for each, the Rectifier.
It’s not for me to criticize—
Instead, to look through Jesus’ eyes.
