"I sat and chatted with her over a cup of coffee. Her eyes sparkled when she told me how they’d met. At a grocery store. “It was while I was holding a bag of Eight O’ Clock coffee when I first heard his baritone voice. He said, ‘coffee smells much better than it tastes.’

Your article is so full of emotional triggers. I flew from sadness to disgust and over to a sense of "gotcha" and back to sadness, albeit with a slight sense of satisfaction over the lady's being unmasked. Made me really appreciate our HOA Chairman all the more. He's a wonderfully caring and competent man and never been like this lady--fortunately. This story might have made an interesting short story where the characters could have had a bit more meat on their character bones, but you did a really nice job of presenting them in so few words.
