Encompassed with pain each new morning,
My spirit bent down with despair,
Preparing once more for the battle,
This must be my burden to bear.
Lifting the load to my shoulders
And shifting my weight to acquiesce,
I shuffled along 'neath my burden
Allowing the strain to oppress.
One day I caught heaven's whisper,
A tune that was faint to my ear,
The sound of the angels in worship
Inviting my heart to draw near.
I lingered within hallowed worship,
Absorbing the sense of God's peace,
The eyes of my soul lifted upward,
My focus on self He released.
The load no longer so heavy
For this He had asked me to bear,
For always with trials there's purpose,
This too God will use, I'm aware.
It's all in my frame of reference,
A burden or blessing I'll be,
A chance to be used by my Master
And one day His purpose I'll see.
Turning my focus to heaven
Instead of absorbed in myself,
The burdensome load that I carried,
No longer placed me "on a shelf".
I'm His and the anthems of heaven
Still linger to carry me through,
His presence, His love, still surround me,
Nestl'ng in His arms changed my view.
