sometimes one or two float from the branches,
or with a gust of wind the tress are disrobed
piles at a time,
the autumn arrayed foliage tries to hang on,
but their diminishing numbers
is enough for me to see
fall is fading.
Squirrels busy gathering nuts
are often squabbling, so frantic
to make the most of ever decreasing daylight;
they ignore me
as I watch, dreading coming temperature drops.
Their hard-working preparation
is enough for me to see
winter’s not far.
Winter’s advance reminds me
of the abated wildlife food supply,
and the need to stock up on birdseed very soon,
my gift to give
the redbirds that cheer my gloomy winter day.
Pondering needs, redbirds and gifts
is enough for me to see
Christmas is near.
And with Christmas approaching
my heart yeans for its fleeting holiness,
as more and more Christmas is being stripped of Christ,
the world wanting
a happy holiday with no Christ in it,
curtailed symbols of Jesus’s birth
is enough for me to see
our troubled times.
The end days will be troubled times,
where godliness and goodness are reduced,
over powered by the stench of accepted sin,
prophesied days,
where mankind seeks to defile and vanquish God,
and to blaspheme His holy word.
It’s enough for me to see
man’s time grows short.
