I find this most assuring when I’m stressed, tired or weak
When I’m conversing with the Almighty God on high
Sometimes angst-filled words cause Him, I think, to sigh
And when I shout my thanks ‘cause my heart’s filled to the brim
I’m drawn ever nearer and savor precious time with Him
Tear drops on my pillow caused by death’s awful sting
Why him, we still need Dad--God’s comfort came that Spring
He knew when I got married, watched over us in youth
I didn’t pray routinely then--not sure why, but that’s the truth
I’d go to Him in troubled times, a hypocrite turned needy
His answers soothed, then I forgot--Satan steals because he’s greedy
My brother’s fatal accident gave cause to fester anger
Three years I screamed at God, and then became a stranger
Mom, what’s Sunday School--Ellen asked if I could go
My explanation taught what I forgot to know
His message heard clearly--begging forgiveness, I confessed
I stopped ignoring God when I told my daughter, "yes"
God’s blessings follow testings, through which I am refined
There’s lessons to be learned--godly treasures to be mined
I know He’s beside me in the midst of joy and pain
His belly-laughs tickle mountains and float across the plains
Each pain allowed can strengthen and repair a fractured soul
To use these times for good is our Father’s loving goal
Honest conversations bind us closer to our Lord
Keeping no secrets, striving to live by His sword
Trusting in His kinship birthed by heaven’s grace
Believing that each promise is for us to embrace
Rejoice at His return--no need to be scared
Stay anchored to the King, then you will be prepared
