Stars in their eyes, problems yet unseen
They talk of babies and owning a home
Visions of bliss, no reason for groans
Two years pass, life seems unfair
A stillborn birth, God’s watching this pair
Together they weep, not knowing why
Their unborn baby had to die
God’s healing came with answered prayers
Their newborn son has auburn hair
Tending to her baby’s needs
She cradles him as he learns to feed
Husband and wife, now father and mother
Parenting skills they learn with each other
God gifted more children, healthy and smart
Gratefulness is offered from honoring hearts
Unexpected bills, their money is short
This stay-home mom has God’s support
A promotion comes to ease their stressing
Her husband provides from heaven’s blessings
Calendars turn, new struggles are met
By turning to God whom they never forget
Through sickness and health, rich or poor
This couple’s love continues to soar
Recitals, graduations, years drift away
Too soon, Dad gives his youngest away
Their empty nest now fills with quiet
Their friends say it’s great, but they don’t buy it
Then while strolling beneath a smiling moon
A new kind of love begins to bloom
More time for each other, a new phase in life
New opportunities for this husband and wife
Freedom to come and go as they please
Without busy schedules, they’re rather at ease
They sometimes go out in the midst of the week
Or engage in good talks on the swing by the creek
Husbands and wives, a team that’s united
With God as their Partner, they’ll not be divided
Their friendship grows deep, their love’s ever true
Through life’s joys and tears, they still mean “I do”
Their sons and daughters, now husbands and wives
Observed in their youth how their parents survived
Their respect and kindness through words and actions
Helped wrap up each day with warm satisfactions
Nightly stories from Dad’s worn Bible pages
Taught many a lesson no matter their ages
And now in turn this new generation
Will lay for their kids, godly foundations
