Drifting breezes tagged the sweet scents of pine
Stirring and stretching she reached for her journal
Then penned a prayer to her King, divine
Thank you God for raindrops falling
For guiding me through recent trials
For melting every anxious moment
For loving me in doubt’s denials
Answers exceeded pain-filled requests
New joy embellishes unfolding days
I praise you for the morning’s glory
And for painting evening skies ablaze
Thanks for caring, though I kept stalling
My invitation--long overdue
But my heart’s now open, please come in
Each day created is signed by You
No longer will blindness veil my eyes
To everyday beauty along my path
I thank you for your patience, God
My stubbornness was spared your wrath
My every breath is undeserved
Your kindness fills my lungs with air
I want to live by your commands
Strengthen me, for this world ’s unfair
Blessings arrive in gift-wrapped moments
Garnished with laughter, warm smiles and touch
Lives criss-cross quite unexpected
Each script You write, I need to trust
My life is Yours, my King and Savior
Help shut my ears to toxic talk
With You I choose to spend my days
In faith, discerning which roads to walk
The gentle rain slowed to a drizzle
Outside her panes, just whispering drips
Gently she closed her book of prayers
As the dawn was winking, she blew a kiss
