In the fishbowl of the world,
Floating along with the currents
While avoiding deeper waters.
The other fish around me get a single-sided view.
On one side they can see the things I do
To try to live a life that pleases God.
On the other they are witness to my failures.
Many have already navigated
Through the dangerous shoals ahead
And set examples for the way I ought to take.
I pray that those who come along behind me
Will glide through waters safely to the end.
The airplanes traversing the sky
And the astronauts whirling in space
Cannot see me at all.
But there is One above
Who sees me from all sides
And even to my heart and soul
With each desire and every thought and motive.
He loves me as He does all His creation,
And He never loses sight of me
As I’m swimming through the fishbowl
Of His world.
