By newscasters plying their trade.
Bold headlines proclaim grave exploits of shame,
Which scandalize and feed the flame.
Reports that abuse, infused with half-truths,
Can undermine positive views,
Confound trusting hearts, deter hopeful starts,
Obstructing joy life could impart.
When all’s said and done, there’s much to be shunned,
But nothing’s new under the sun.
For ever since time there’s always been crime
And hardships that taint life with grime.
Political strife, the fight against blight,
And tax hikes – our unending plight.
Corruption, assault, what harm they have wrought,
Regardless of how men are taught.
Laments, crudely voiced, to flaunt every choice,
Despicable scoundrels rejoice.
Such evil exhausts, but all is not lost.
Not everyone violates laws.
Just like days of old, there’s some who uphold
Much worthier acts of “pure gold”.
Community groups are there, off’ring scoops
Of soup, or repairing your stoop.
A river or stream that’s clogged with debris,
They’ll purge till it’s fully redeemed.
Supporters abound for those who feel down,
With burdens of life so profound.
And charities, too, will help see you through,
When trials and hardships accrue.
For lending a hand helps others to stand,
Perhaps changing dismal to grand.
Occasionally, folks pine for carefree
Fun, simple pleasures are key.
School bands wearing shades, clowns, baseball brigades,
Celebrities march in parades;
Arts Fests to explore, free concerts galore,
And carnivals help spirits soar.
Your contribution to life will be one
That blesses or shames when it’s done.
For legacies thrive, are etched into lives,
Of folks trying just to survive.
Consider your course, ‘ere you have remorse;
Benevolence, keenly endorse.
