How could it be,
That I, so undeserving,
Receive from Your gracious hand
An embarrassment of blessings?
Beauty of Your creation,
Spread before me,
Like a never-ending banquet,
Sunrise and sunset,
A most magnificent feast,
With brightest sunshine and fresh rain
To nourish and sustain me.
Your forgiveness of my sins,
Those remembered
And those I have forgotten,
A soothing salve
Upon my wounded soul,
Your comfort in distress and pain,
A shawl of warmth
Wrapped around my heart.
Dear Family and friends,
A lamp to shine
Against my loneliness,
But, most of all,
The Son of God,
My never-failing Friend,
Who ever walks beside me
And illuminates my path.
Your precious Holy Word,
My guide for each new day—
Your promises, the bridge of hope
I’ll walk across to glory
To sit and learn at Jesus’ feet,
As His disciples did,
And rise to sing Hosannas
With all the saints and angels.
This embarrassment of blessings
Is too much for me to comprehend.
I thank You, Lord.
