"We will never fully understand humans, Azrial."
"Why can't I just... uh... nudge him in the right direction?"
Neriah chuckled. "I have a strange feeling your nudge will be more of a push."
Azrial blushed. "You know me well, Keeper Neriah."
"I know you want to help humans. That's why you're an angel. But helping doesn't mean we can impose."
"I wouldn't be imposing. Just... nudging. Okay. Pushing."
"Ah, that's what all the new angels say."
"But Keeper Neriah, didn't you used to wonder why we can't do more than we can? I mean, we have the power to help people more, don't we?"
"If you're talking about the power to change minds.... yes and no. We certainly can try to.... enlighten them. And in the human sense of the word, we might be able to change their minds, but not really."
Azrial looked up at him, a blank look in his eyes. "I'm so confused."
"You see, Azrial," Neriah began, "While God is all powerful and can do anything He chooses to do, there are things that even the Master Himself considers sacred. God will not interfere with free will. He can try to get people to see the potential consequences of their actions, and sometimes he uses us to help people see things clearly, but the choice is ultimately up to them."
"But... wouldn't the world be a much better place if God were ruling?"
"He is ruling." Neriah said.
"Then... why...."
"It's a balance of sorts. God decided from the beginning of time itself.... before then, really, that He did not want glory and honor to be mandated. He wanted it to be a choice. When someone is forced to honor you, well.... it ceases to be an honor anymore."
"I think I get you, Keeper Neriah, but I still don't understand."
"Neither do I."
"You just explained all this to me and you don't understand it?"
"I understand the principle. I just don't fully understand why the Master chose to do it this way."
"So what you're telling me is we can yell at them all we want, but the choice is still up to them. Meanwhile, we watch them harm themselves."
"Essentially.... yes. It's so hard to watch your humans suffer from choices they made, but hopefully it will be for their good in the long run."
"But my humans seem to make the same mistake over and over again."
"You think mine don't?"
"Then how do you deal with it?"
"Ah. That, my apprentice, is a question I can answer. I lay it all at the Master's feet."
"Will you teach me how to do that?"
"I'd be honored."

The extra words in Neriah's explanation, in my opinion, slowed the flow of the narrative. "Powerful" implies He can do anything.
"So what you're telling me is..." I would consider rephrasing this to eliminate "is."
I'm not sure about the angels, but when I have unanswered questions I try to "lay it all at the Master's feet." Thank you for making that point.
