Jason: Welcome to Truth Confimers, the show where we put supposed truths to the test.
Aaron: Today is a blowout episode.
Jason: That's right. We're testing whether you can blow up a standard mailbox with a cherry bomb.
Aaron: Remember. Don't try any of this at home. We're what you call...
Aaron and Jason: Professionals!
**************
Aaron: Our truth today involves an age old truth about cherry bombs. We want to know if they actually can blow up a standard mailbox.
Jason: We've put a cherry bomb inside this household mailbox, and have connected it to this remote ignition system. I'll pull the trigger from behind the safety glass, and we'll see what happens.
****KABOOM!****
Aaron and Jason: Woah!
Aaron:Well, I don't think there's much to deny here.
Jason: You're right about that. It's a real blowout. The sides are blown right off. But I don't want to confirm this truth just yet. Let's try it with a US Postal Service mailbox.
Aaron: You meant those big metal ones you see out by buildings?
Jason: Exactly. I've gotten permission from the local Post Master to use one that's been slightly damaged. The structural integrity is not compromised, so it won't affect the accuracy of our test.
Aaron: Let's do it. Now remember, folks, blowing up a mailbox, even a household one like we just did, is a federal crime. We've receive special permission to do these experiments.
Jason: Unless you want to spend the rest of your days locked up with Bosco and Rambo, don't do this at home.
Aaron: Okay. The set up of this one is nearly identical to the first one. We put a cherry bomb in there and have a remote ignition system. We'll stand behind the safety glass here.
****KABOOM!****
Adam and Jason: Woah!
Aaron: I think this mailbox is out of commission.
Jason: Yeah, it's no longer standing upright, but I don't think we can call it a blowout either.
Aaron: That's true. But weren't old cherry bombs more powerful than the ones you can buy today?
Jason: You're right, Aaron. They used to be approximately five times more powerful. Now we could just put five in there, but that wouldn't be as controlled, because the explosion would be spread out, and not as focused.
Aaron: And so instead we're going to use an amount of dynamite that will produce an explosion of equal force. Same set up as before.
*****KKKKAAABBBBOOOOOOMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!*****
Adam: Now that's what I call an explosion.
Jason: I think we can officially call this one a blowout.
Adam: Hey look, I just found the birthday card I sent to my mother four years ago that she said she never got.
Jason: It's a bit charbroiled now. You going to send it as a belated birthday gift?
Adam: Naw. I don't think it gives the proper sentiment anymore.
Jason: You want to call this one?
Adam: I don't think there's much to debate here. It's clearly confirmed.
Jason: I agree. Confirmed. Well, that's all the time we have for today. Join us next time when we test to see if explosion proof refrigerators are really explosion proof. Until next time, I'm Jason Hillman.
Adam: And I'm Adam Simon, for...
