It’s something I’d sure like to know.
Will it always be spring
With the joys flowers bring;
Fertile soil to make anything grow?
I think I’d like springtime in heaven.
With newness of life everywhere.
The streets made of gold
(A sight to behold)
Would shine in the clear, springtime air.
But sometimes I think about summer
And how much I’ve loved it on earth.
At Grandmother’s farm,
With all of its charm,
I’d spent every summer since birth.
I rode the hay wagon with Grandpa
And searched for duck eggs in the creek.
The long summer days
While the cattle would graze
Gave time to play “Hide and Go Seek.”
But what about autumn in heaven?
We need the fall air, crisp and cold.
To make pumpkins grow
And apples hang low
And maple leaves turn red and gold.
I’d love some fall hay rides in heaven,
And jumping in leaves piled so high.
I hope there will be
Just fresh from the tree
Some nuts for a Thanksgiving pie.
I think we need winter in heaven.
With snow-covered mountains and hills.
We won’t freeze our toes
When icy wind blows
Or ever catch colds from the chills.
I can’t wait for Christmas in heaven.
We’re bound to have snow every year.
Our freshly-cut tree
We’ll trim to a “T”
With ornaments made while we’re here.
I know I’d prefer all the seasons
Of spring, summer, fall, winter, too.
But we can all rest
For God knows what’s best.
He planned it for me and for you.
