A man without a name,
Hunched over in a cloak,
A shadow in the park,
Camouflaged against an oak.
What you don’t see:
Deep within the poor man’s soul
Pain flows through every vein
As he remembers other days
And love he can’t regain.
What do you hear?
A man who mumbles nonsense,
His churning thoughts sound unclear,
But inside his mind he talks to her,
His stumbling words are sincere.
What you don’t hear:
It’s one night ten years ago…
He dances with his wife
To celebrate their vows,
Their love promised for life.
What do you know?
A man alone with no home
Looks dirty, unshaven,
Sad, hungry, and tired,
But this park is his haven.
What you don’t know:
Since the man lost his wife
He thought he died too,
But God never left his side;
He told the man: “I died for you.”
