There are no guns, there are no planes, no hand-held RPG’s.
But, have no doubt, there is a war going on inside of me.
Although the surface may look calm, you’d never really tell,
A battle rages between God and the evil powers of Hell.
And in the balance hangs my soul, the very heart of me.
Ironically, the winner is who I choose it to be.
That He would grant free will to me is an amazing thing,
For God did not want me to be a puppet on a string.
He knew, before the dawn of time, the person I would be,
But, in His wisdom and His love, He left the choice to me.
To seek His purpose for my life, in beauty and in grace,
So I would be a mirror to reflect His holy face.
The devil uses all his wiles to tempt me to give in,
Until my inner soul is crippled by a weight of sin.
But Satan is a liar and I have to make a choice,
To be defeated by his lies, or hear my Father’s voice.
The voice that tells me in His strength my weakness is made strong,
And helps the inner part of me discern what’s right and wrong.
To know that my surrender to His will is not a loss,
And that the battle for my soul was won upon the Cross.
So every day I strive to be the best that I can be,
And listen deep inside myself where Jesus speaks to me.
