You’re chosen, you are mine.
The Author, I was told,
Is my God, my Lord divine.
“Why would someone want
The likes of me?” I queried.
“Don’t you know He died for you,
Then rose--though He’d been buried.”
Those words, foreign to my ears
Were boggling to my mind,
And so my friend spent countless hours
Helping mysteries to unwind.
A book that he called sacred
Was his reference and his guide.
He said God actually wrote the book,
But His truths have been denied.
It was God-inspired writers
Who were gifted with the pen,
To give accurate accounts
Of the happenings back then.
And in this Bible, “Trust in God”
Each writer sought to teach.
If we, but put our faith in Him,
Then heaven we shall reach.
Now I’ve learned through the Bible
What God expects of me,
And I’ve joined Bible studies--
Even prayed with two or three.
Someone wrote upon my heart,
You’re chosen, you are mine.
I know beyond all earthly doubts
I’m His branch, He is my vine.
