That’s all it said, which made me wonder why
A guy, from all reports, had lost cohorts in
High up courts whose thinking turned him out
No doubt his crime, evolved through time,
Was being past his prime-- not useful in this age;
This stage of life on which we act
With rot so deep we can’t go back
(To reclaim those necessary filters)
The ones a culture needs to breed
A decency that oils all Social interaction
And holds the line, now weak and dim,
From losing all its traction
The sense and order of what’s right
The loss of so much salt and light
Brought this un-natural death of one almost a stranger
Whose sickness turned to slow demise but did not signal DANGER.
There is so little left of conduct’s code
As words and dress and ways erode
To scream down proverb’s oldest road –the one that’s paved
So sadly with those good intentions
Embarrassed left a few bereft, but others laugh and celebrate
The future’s here, and nothing out-of-date
Can neutralize comportment’s toxic dump that’s nearly killed all grace of manners,
And most tact; in fact…
The line between the wild and us has paled
And ignorant ones don’t even know what’s failed –or care
The loss of that “Big E” makes humans disconnected
Until Revival’s Fruit will show him resurrected
Modesty will follow right behind, and Shame will do the same
As convicting Guilt works to bring some needed real repentance
Giving Honored Truth His one last chance
To serve a changed life sentence.
