We've gathered here today
to worship and to pray.
As sisters in the Lord
we're all of one accord.
Let's pray.

There are things that I should share.
I have some points for prayer.
Let's bring them to the throne.
We know we're not alone.
Let's pray.

You probably don't know
that just a week ago
Sandy crashed her car.
Well you know how things are...
Let's pray.

Just between us friends
Jill is at wits' end.
William came home drunk
with final exams to flunk!
Let's pray.

Now keep this to yourself.
No longer on the shelf,
Mavis has a beau,
and I was first to know!
Let's pray.

Edith's in a state.
Her husband came home late.
I know it's not a crime,
but it's not the only time.
Let's pray

Not many people know
why Deidre's been so low.
Her husband's lost his job
and sits round like a slob.
Let's pray

Grace is feeling old.
That's what I am told.
Her botox work appointment
was such a disappointment
Let's pray.

You ladies are aware
the reason that I share
is only 'cos I care
to mention things for prayer.
Let's pray.

I'm sure we've all heard or been a part of gossip disguised as prayer, or other good works. But no matter how we try to dress it up, it's still just gossip.

I really liked your work in this piece and the message you presented to us.

This is excellent. A very clever poem that not only nails the subject right on the head but sadly has a truthful ring. Great writing.

The only offensive part of this is that it is true, and the Truth is offensive for those it hits.

A well written piece of poetic satire.

As others have said, this is, unfortunately, too true sometimes. You did a great job of combining a bit of humor with that "ouch" factor, and making it serious at the same time.
