Hearts weighted with fear and sadness, lies and scandals
Schooled by the Teacher, their souls receptive to His words
Then came the unraveling, twisting truths till they were blurred
Betrayal--an arrest--Innocence hanging from a cross
Believers hopes in shambles--they grieved for their great loss
Stormy blackness veiled the earth till it quaked with Father’s wrath
Death defeated--empty tomb--redemptive love within our grasp
But when life becomes messy and things have gone awry
In sheer desperation we’ll acknowledge Him and cry
Radiance fills the early morn with obedient rising sun
Our world displays His miracles and has since time’s begun
Do we ever ponder on the magnificence of His flowers
His turning our trials to triumphs with omnipotent powers
Do we pause and give thanks for each new day that dawns
Do we treasure precious moments, like sleeping baby yawns
Why is it we focus on our futures, but don’t enjoy our now
And seldom turn our hearts to God, forgetting Him somehow
But when life becomes messy and things have gone awry
In sheer desperation we’ll acknowledge Him and cry
Why do we struggle so to please ourselves and others
Why do we forget to love each sister and our brothers
Who’s walking beside us when our lives hit crisis mode
Who’s eager hands await to carry ev’ry heavy load
Battered lives are tethered to ugly sin addictions
Disasters strike, tragedy knocks, these are world’s afflictions
Oh, to rest in His presence, feeling fears dissipate
When surrendered spirits seek, to Him they gravitate
