A whack whack whackity a whack whack whack
A bump bump bumpity a bump bump bump

I heaved my arm and gave a mighty jump
And tennis ball against the house went thwack
A thump thump thumpity a thump thump thump

With rhythm like an outdoor water pump
The ball bounced in its syncopated track
A bump bump bumpity a bump bump bump

When Mom came out to say she’d spank my rump
If ball against the house again did crack
A thump thump thumpity a thump thump thump

I felt my shoulders sliding in a slump
Afraid I’d lose my special throwing knack
A bump bump bumpity a bump bump bump

Now in my throat I get a massive lump
As in my mind my childhood days are back
A thump thump thumpity a thump thump thump

Fun read! Just had to read it out loud to get the pleasure out of all the thump-thump-thumpities! (How do you make thumpity plural?)

This clever villanelle is filled with action and those thumps, bumps, and whacks, echo with each line. The humorous story line gives me a smile with each read. This is definitely meant to be read aloud, multiple times. Super!

This made me smile really wide. It's almost akin to "Dr. Seuss" except for adults, although I think the rythym would amuse children too when read aloud.

I loved it.
