She enters her kingdom
Os savory scents,
Where she rules
As sole monarch.
She first invites ,
Through her CD’s ,
Singers and musicians
To inspire
And entertain her.
With grand old hymns
She sings along
While preparing foods,
Her family’s favorites.
As she chops and minces,
Stirs and mixes,
She prays,
First offering thanks
For every blessing,
Then petitioning
God to help
Each one of
Her dearly loved ones,
Dwelling longest
On the one
With greatest need.
She delights in seeing
Her family,
Gathered round her table,
Teasing, laughing,
Sharing anecdotes.
Then after meals,
While cleaning up,
She plays her
Favorite oldies
And sometimes
Does a little dance
When no one’s
There to watch.
When hubby steals
Into her realm
With kisses and a hug,
She’s glad this is the life
That God prepared
For her.
She’s happy to be
The queen of her domain.

I love the emotions, aromas, and feelings this evokes. I especially like how her domain provides the place for her family to gather round the table, then her "hubby steals into her realm" (beautiful wordsmithing). I wanted to read this several time to capture all the images. This brought to mind an old favorite Glen Campbell song, "The Everyday Housewife."

A "statement" of one who is happily content (and blessed) to be where they are - and by being so, becomes a Queen of her Domain. Can't get much better than that : )
