"God", she demanded, "What's wrong with me? Why does he do this. Why am I not good enough?"
She picked up their wedding album from the coffee table and sobbed at the inscription. "Mark and Gina - Everlasting Love"
"Everlasting?" she screamed at the album before tossing it to the floor. "Nothing is everlasting!"
She buried her head in the couch pillow and cried until the tears would no longer come. Until she was exhausted and every ounce of anger was spent like a roll of quarters at a parking lot carnival.
"Divorce is the only answer", she wept. "I can't keep living like this."
She reached for a tissue and saw the Bible sitting next to the box and knew that God was leading her.
"Why should I trust You? How can You fix this?" she cried.
God's word rose in her heart. "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee. I have loved thee with an everlasting love."*
Gina fell to her knees and began to thank Him for His faithfulness. As she did, a peace covered her heart and mind. From it came hope. And hope does not disappoint. Joy began to flood her soul at the possibility of the restoration of her marriage.
And somewhere in the spiritual realm, a bucket is lowered into a well. It dips in and draws forth a promise.
"Nothing is impossible with God"*
Sam stood on his porch, gazing at the crop that was drying in his field. Suddenly the screen door opened with a loud creak and closed with a slam. Marti, his wife of twenty-eight years, came along side him and slipped her arm through his.
"It'll be all right, Sam", she assured him.
"We need rain", he said without taking his eyes off the parched field. "That's the only way it'll be all right, Martha."
"Sam, God can do that...but even if He don't, aint no need in you fretin' out here on the porch. How's that gonna help?", she asked as she wiped her hands on her faded apron.
He didn't answer. He just strode off the porch and headed for the barn.
"Where you goin'?" she called after him.
"Got some business to tend to", he shouted back over his shoulder.
Once in the barn, he found a pile of hay, removed his hat, and knelt down.
"Jesus", he began, "It's me...Sam. I'm in a spot, Lord. Martha don't know how bad it is. I didn't want to worry her. But, if we lose this crop - well, the bank'll be callin' in the note on the farm. We need rain, Sir. I'm askin' for rain."
Sam stood to his feet, then and with his hat still in his hands he continued to pray. "I reckon that's all, Lord. But mama always told me when I got done bringin' my need to You - I should praise You."
With that, Sam looked over his shoulder to make sure he was alone, cleared his throat, tilted his head back as though God were in the rafters of the old barn and began to sing. "Victory...in Jesus, my Saviour forever!"
A peace settled over Sam's mind and joy began to rise in his heart. He smiled as he remembered how good the fields smelled after a rain.
And somewhere in the spiritual realm, a bucket is lowered into a well. It dips and brings forth a promise.
"I have never seen the righteous forsaken, nor their seed begging bread"*
Susan thanked the doctor, and left the office with the diagnosis that proved she was beyond the help of man. She was shaking as she pushed the elevator buttons. She could barely remember where her car was.
Once inside, she reached for the Bible she had brought along - just in case. Holding it tightly against her chest, she fought back tears and prayed aloud. " Lord, Your word says, 'He sent His word and healed them...' I believe Your report, Lord.'
Peace and joy flowed through her soul.
And somewhere in the spiritual realm, a bucket is lowered into a well...

One suggestion: Your opening sentence has four actions going on, listing the preceding action last. I'd break it into two or three short sentences for maximum impact, beginning with the door slamming.
Love those wells of salvation, though! Great stuff.
